Claire Schrader’s new confidence-building system, the Sunflower Effect, fills in the gaps where assertiveness training and other techniques leave off. Most books and advice handed out on confidence may work very well for certain people – but they don’t work wallflowers.

To be stuck on the sidelines, cut off from other people, unable to express what you really feel or know, and unable to participate in life in the way you want to… is painful. And many people never break out of it.

This is  is complex psychological process that keeps wall flowers locked behind powerful internal walls.

Claire Schrader’s new book, From Wallflower to Sunflower, breaks new ground in the field of confidence building and provides a far more effective solution. A former wallflower, she stumbled by chance on a very simple and effective way to build a natural and lasting confidence – that enabled her to say goodbye to her life as a wallflower in a matter of a few months.

Over 20 years, she has developed the Sunflower Effect – a proven system based on methods that are as old as history itself, but have never been put together in quite this way. It is in fact based on the secret that every ex-wallflower movie star knows about, that has enabled them to achieve outstanding success in their lives.

The Sunflower Effect uses an especially adapted form of drama designed for wallflowers that doesn’t involve any of the confidence techniques that don’t work for wallflowers. It’s highly practical, grounded in psychology and scientific research and it will work for wallflowers even those who count themselves as a lost cause – very shy, highly reserved and acutely self-conscious. It has already assisted many hundreds of people move from Wallflower to Sunflower (to becoming naturally self-c0nfident).

From Wallflower to Sunflower offers a step-by-step guide with proven strategies, practical tips and exercises as well as free online resources, to back up and intensify the reader’s experience of the book.

If you classify yourself a wallflower, whether you’re a student, or at any level in your career, even if you have reached the higher echelons of your organisation and are struggling with these issues ,  do yourself and your future a favour,  buy this book and start walking the path to natural self-confidence.

Claire Schrader has spent the past twenty years changing lives through her organization, Making Moves – and is celebrating by releasing what can only be described as 2017’s most compelling self-help book.

There’s nothing on the market quite like ‘From Wallflower to Sunflower: the quiet person’s path to natural self-confidence’.

Full Bio

Long Version

Claire Schrader started out in life as the proverbial wallflower – until she found a way to break out of her shell  and  acquire some of the skills that the most successful people naturally have. As a result she has achieved things that would simply been impossible if she hadn’t come out of her introverted hidey-hole. She reveals her transformational story in her upcoming first book, From Wallflower to Sunflower – the quiet person’s path to natural self-confidence be published in March 2017, providing hope to thousands of shy, reserved and introverted people.

She switched from nursing to becoming a performer in theatre and alternative cabaret: surprising everyone with her solo fire-eating act “La Dame de Flamme, the fire-eating ballerina”. Sporting a cod French accent, she entered to the climatic strains from “Swan Lake”, put a man from the audience through a trial by flames, culminating in her eating fire whilst going down in the splits to Edith Piaf’s “Je ne regrette rien”. She was featured in women’s magazines (see below for media coverage) and on Woman’s Hour  (Radio 4) in a feature about women alternative cabaret performers, .

She later worked as a playwright and as a trainer in UK drama schools. Her first play, Corryvreckan (produced at the Old Red Lion, Theatre, London 1990), was short listed for Best Play at the 1991 Charrington Fringe Theatre Awards and won an Arts Council award.

After qualifying as a dramatherapist in 1995,  she was co-ordinator of the performance programme at The Studio Upstairs for six years. She developed and directed numerous therapeutic performance projects at Diorama Arts, as well as “Life Story”, a transformational theatre project for unemployed young people supported by Arts for Everyone Lottery Scheme.

She founded Making Moves in 1997 and over time developed The Sunflower Effect system, a highly effective confidence-building system through drama.

Her clients are:

    • nice women who don’t feel they have a voice

    • introverts who fear speaking in front of groups,

    • men in IT who have trouble socialising

    • Eastern Europeans & Asians who want to improve their prospects

  • people from repressed backgrounds who have difficulty being visible in the work place

She’s given presentations at big events including the Women’s International Networking Conference in Rome, and run powerful programmes in business for advertising professionals, CEO’s, Organizational Development Consultants and Innovators etc.

She is editor of Ritual Theatre: the power of dramatic ritual in personal development groups and clinical practice (Jessica Kingsley) published in November 2011 and has contributed to Emotions: Experiences in Existential Psychotherapy and Life by Freddie Strasser (Duckworth).

Still an introvert, she has never forgotten what it’s was like to be shy and self-conscious. It just doesn’t stop her from doing the things she wants.

Why it’s so hard for wallflowers to build lasting self-confidence.
Most books and advice handed out on confidence may work very well for certain people – but they don’t work for wallflowers. This is because most confidence-building techniques don’t address the complex psychological process that is keeping you locked behind powerful internal walls, and this is why so many of them only have short-term benefits. Claire explains why and how the Sunflower Effect is so different and why it achieves such exceptional transformations in wallflowers.

The secret to confidence that all ex-wallflower movie stars know about that enabled them to put an end to their wallflower existence and achieve outstanding success in their lives.
We are constantly bombarded by stories of actors, movie stars, comedians, singers and public figures saying that they used to be quiet, shy, a wallflower or avoided the spotlight. Then one day all that changed, and they were able to overcome their inhibitions in the same way Claire did. But the conditions have to right otherwise it will lead, as Claire explains, to even greater inhibitions. She talks about how wallflowers can avoid the biggest pitfalls and to start becoming a “Sunflower”

Why is the Sunflower Effect so effective at building  confidence
The nine elements of the Sunflower Effect that enable wallflowers to become the confident person they’ve always wanted to be – just in the same way as a sunflower seed blossoms into a sunflower. It’s a natural process. Claire explains that it doesn’t matter if you’re terrified, don’t believe that you can do it, fear you might make a mistake or fear you’ll make a fool of yourself. Through the Sunflower Effect you cannot fail, because every failure leads to success. It’s not about doing; it’s about being. When you are being a “sunflower”, you don’t have to do anything. It’s who you are.
